Toned Down High Street Grunge | life-in-resume

The 'grungy' style is everywhere these days and I feel that the highstreet are creating some perfect key pieces to create a grunge style.

In my opinion grunge shouldn't be labelled but from what other people say grunge is, is how I have created this look. I've used a lot of black, leather and rough and ready-ness.

1. Leather look skater skirt - New Look - £16.99
Faux leather is always good when trying to create a grunge/rocker look, it has a sense of 'I don't care' about it. Being a skater skirt makes it bang on trend and perfect for a lot of figures. And alternative for a the skirt being leather is washed out/acid wash denim or a really strong block colour to add some brightness to the outfit.
2. Rib cage muscle tank - H&M - £9.99
I adore this graphic tee. I love that is has a zip down the back and that the graphic in the front isn't bold and that it's more washed out.
3. Tights (DIY ripped) - Black tights available everywhere e.g. Primark - less than £2
Ripping tights makes a perfect grunge look inspired by the likes of Hayley Williams or Avril Lavigne. All you need to do is take a old pair of black tights or coloured its up to you and all you have to do it poke holes with your fingers, cut them with scissors and tug at them to ladder. It's really simple and very affective.
(Whoops missed out 4)
5. Patent Doc Martins - Schuh -£90
Yep these are just a wonder. We all need to take a moment to appreciate their lovely ness. Yes I know these aren't exactly cheap but with a pair of doctor martins you are guaranteed a pair of comfy shoes that never go out if fashion.
6. ARGHHHHHH necklace - Tatty Devine - £60
And again not the cheapest necklace I could have found but well worth it. I think this necklace is just amazing and would look good with any outfit and it would be pretty rare for you to see someone with the necklace on. If you haven't checked out tatty Devine before I would recommend it if you have a birthday coming up and you're looking for a nice good quality piece of jewellery.
7. Studded flatform - Schuh - £19.99
This is a cheaper alternative to the doc martins but something that would look just as good! Flatforms are lovely and comfy. Also if you wish you were a little bit taller these are perfect and dead on trend.

I love doing mor rocky/grunge/punk styles so if you'd like to see more then leave a comment below.
